Picking out the perfect dress to by can be a very difficult task.  There are so many different styles and colors to choose from it may sometimes seem impossible to pick out a great dress.  This guide will not only tell you what dresses every women should own, but why you should own these dresses and more importantly how to wear them and what to wear them with. 

The first dress we are going to talk about is the A-line dress.  This is what I like to call the back up dress as it looks great on anyone in any situation.  This is the ultimate quick fix and back up dress.  When you are in a hurry or you just need a different look, this is the dress to choose.  It is such a great and versatile dress because you can add just about any accessories and you are set for any occasion.  I recommend that a woman should own four of these dresses, one in black, one in white, one in a solid neutral color, and a blocked bright colored one. 

The next dress we will discuss is the wrap dress.  This is a very versatile dress as it looks good on all shapes and sizes.  This dress can be worn differently every time you wear it, and it has a classic feminine look.  Some shinny medium sized earrings and a great jewel pendant on a petite chain are my favorite accessories to wear with a wrap dress along with a great pair of peep toe heels.  This dress, depending on how you wear it and the type of accessories you pair it with, can go from lounging around the house, to the office, to a dinner date.  I recommend owning at least three, one in a great print, one in a solid neutral, and one in a solid color.  If you only purchase one of these dresses, make it one with a great and bright print. 

The next dress on our list is the little white dress.   This is a wonderful summer and winter dress.  As with most solitary pieces, accessories are the key to a great look.  Worn in the summer it will show off a tan beautifully, and in the winter can help you stand out amidst all of the grays and tans that seem to lurk about everywhere.  This dress can be worn on a casual day at the beach or an important day at the office.  Remember to choose your accessories wisely.

Up next is the little black dress.  You may have already chosen your black a line dress as your little black dress and that is a great choice, but I recommend this little black dress be a little black cocktail dress.  This dress will be a bit more formal and to be worn at night to be in its best light so to speak.  Weather you accessorize lightly or heavily do it with silver or gold or both together. 

Last we come to the evening gown.  Every women needs to have one of these because you never know when an event will arise that you will have to have one.  These are the formal dress, nothing compares and nothing is more of a pain to buy in my opinion.  I recommend that whatever style or cuts you may choose that the final decision be made on the color.  If you are between being a teenager and being in your mid to late thirties, go with something bright, the older you are the more bold the pattern.  If you are in your thirties or forties, go with a dark solid color or a pattern in neutrals maybe with black in it.  Above these ages I would go with solid black, white or neutral colors.
